No one wants to be poor. It is well said that we vote with our pocket books. We want child care for our children while working. A nice house to live in and hopefully a good looking reliable car. Great vacations are in order and top notch education is a must. The latest fashion clothes are a must. From baggy to tough apparel to sexy and alluring is our cup of tea. Whatever makes others pay attention to us.
We want everyone to like us and are proud when we think we have matured with the attitude I don’t care if people like me or not. We love cliques and clubs. Social gatherings are high on our list. If found no where else our I Pad will do.
We count our children successful if they live in the upper class.
Have you ever wondered what God thinks about all this? Listen to what Jesus says in Revelation chapter 3 verse 17:
“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”
Do you know why most of us never read our Bible? Because it says so many things we do not like. My guess is, no one would admit that they fall in the category of not loving God with their whole heart, mind and soul yet most of us instead of concentrating our life on Gods word and what it says, concentrate and dedicate their life to have their increase in goods and all the perks of life.
In the above verse Jesus is talking to the church and why most folk are lukewarm concerning their love for Him.
I hang my head when folk write me when talking about politics and make such statements as:
We are not electing a Pastor.
David was also immoral and God used him greatly.
We just want a leader to bring us jobs and prosperity and keep us safe.
Most of us do not even care if our elected leaders lie or are crooked. Sad to say but we expect it. Just bring us jobs and prosperity.
Make America first, keep others out. Me, Me, Me, Me is the order of the day. Give us better health care, lower our taxes, make it all about us. Forget sacrificing for others. Make us first. After all our needs and wants are satisfied, if we have anything left we will then give some to others from the things we don’t need. More later as I recall…….
