The Biggest World Event in My Lifetime

I can still remember the day President Kennedy was shot. The entire nation mourned. Even those who did not vote for him. I can remember 911 when we were attacked by terrorists. Though I am not a fan of President Bush, I sure am glad he was President. As strong a leader as they come. Though I was alive at the end of world war 11, I was too young to remember. We lost the Vietnam war and consequently no celebrations took place.

The biggest event by far, though I was too young to remember, took place on May 14, 1948. Even if I could remember, I certainly could not have comprehended the Biblical implications and how it would affect the world. As a matter of fact what happened on Friday May 14th 1948 is the biggest event to take place in the past 2000 years. You probably have already guessed this event as the rebirth of Israel. It happened on one day and shocked the entire world. Of course the Bible had predicted such and on that day it happened.

” Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.” Isaiah 66:8

As the proposal was brought before the United Nations, most thought it would fail. Hitler had already murdered 6 million Jews and Anti-Semitism was wide spread. Biblical prophecy filled before the eyes of the world.

The very next day, May 15, 1948 Israel was attacked by Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Iraq. Though Israel was weak in military strength a miracle took place and Israel prevailed. Not only was it a miracle that Israel prevailed but this was not the last time nations would attack Israel in an attempt to defeat and drive her into the sea.

Of particular note is the Six-Day War (June 1967) – Fought between Israel and Arab neighbors Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The nations of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Algeria, and others also contributed troops and arms to the Arab forces. Following the war, the territory held by Israel expanded significantly (“The Purple Line”) : The West Bank (including East Jerusalem) from Jordan, Golan Heights from Syria, Sinai and Gaza from Egypt. How could this happen? It is still studied today by military experts as to how with being outnumbered and out gunned could this possibly happen. Other than “But God” there is no rational answer.

This May 14, 2017, Sunday marks modern Israel at 69 years of age. Stronger than ever yet surrounded and outnumbered by Arabs and Muslims that hate Israel. Notice the map:

Nearly 300 million against 6 million.

Never will Israel again be defeated. Why? Because God says so. If you are a student of the Bible you know prophecy and what God has said:

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
Psalm 121

Often I hear that Israel need the United States. Actually that is not so. But it is true that the United States needs Israel. Why? Because God said way back in the book of Genesis that God will bless those who bless Israel and will curse those who curse Israel.

There is no other world event in my life time that surpasses the rebirth of Israel. No other nation that has been destroyed has ever come back to rebuild like the nation of Israel.

If you wish to know where this world stands in prophecy look no further than Israel. Israel is the key.

`Ever since God gave Israel the deed to the land of Canaan and changed the name to Israel nation after nation has attempted to drive her into the sea.

The head of Iran is quoted as saying ” Israel must be wiped from the pages of history.”

The prophet Joel tells us what is going to happen.  He tells us that the land of Israel will no more be given away and parted:

1 ¶ For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

9 ¶ Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
18 ¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

No, Israel does not need the United States but the United States sure does need Israel. Should the United States go against Israel God will destroy our nation. More later as I recall…….
