I Thought I Was Saved

I thought I was saved, I thought I was a Christian. What are you talking about I am not permitted into Heaven?

Let’s get something straight right off the bat. Our sins are either forgiven or they are not. No one is a little bit forgiven but not completely forgiven. Yes, I know you moderates and middle of the roaders don’t like this but it is CLEARLY what the Bible teaches. You are not partly Saved and partly not Saved. You either are or you are not.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.   Matthew chapter 7

The key word in this passage is “NEVER.” These folk had actually done some wonderful things. The problem is they had NEVER been forgiven. They had never seen themselves as wicked sinners, short of the Glory of God and therefore had never repented. They never got born again.

The question is, why had they never seen themselves as wicked sinners deserving Hell? I must tell you the answer to this is well above my pay grade. I don’t know. I don’t even have a clue.

But who might these folk be? The answer to that question is easy. They could be anyone. It is the Lord who actually knows. These folk could have actually walked an isle and repeated with their lips the sinners prayer. They could have been Sunday school teachers that taught the correct doctrine but NEVER actually had Jesus the Christ as their Saviour.

I do have some suspicions. But bare in mind these are only suspicions not actual proof. They are the folk that get deceived easily. Sometimes they can’t actually remember the experience they had in coming to Christ. Their life has never actually changed so as anyone could ever notice. For the most part they were always pretty nice people. They probably are the ones who get offended real easy. Don’t agree with them and they are instantly mad and attack anyone who disagrees with them.

From reading the above verses in Matthew chapter 7, these folk had confidence in that they were Saved. In that day when they are judged they will be surprised and shocked.

There is a teaching in the Bible that points to a supposedly good person being lost even if they think they are Saved. These folk tend to love the things in this world:

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John chapter 2

In a nut shell they hate those who preach standards. One of their favorite come backs is, “You can’t judge me.” They can reject marriage, live with someone of the opposite sex and claim they love Jesus. They can reject the local Bible believing church and sincerely believe they are OK. Often it is what they accumulate in life in regards to material things that guide their lives. A good house, a wonderful home, nice vacations, nice children, good standing in the community.

They tend to believe they are Saved because they are poor or because God has blessed them with much in material possessions. They tend to believe they are Saved because they believe correct doctrine. Their hobbie horse is not Jesus but perhaps Calvinism, Armenianism,  they are a Catholic or a Baptist or a Presbyterian, etc.

Sometimes they love the dirty jokes, the questionable TV and pagan movies. They could be Amish who are completely separated from the world in their life style.

The Bible teaches that there is coming a day when the tares will be separated from the wheat. Those who play Saved but are not. Those who are wonderful actors. Those who believe that all nice people are Gods children because they are nice and get along with most everyone. Those that have a smooth go through life. Did you know the Bible teaches that ALL real Christians will suffer persecution:

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 11 Timothy chapter 2

NO ONE is Saved because they are persecuted or not persecuted. Salvation comes from admitting to God what a sinner you are and coming to Christ to Save you. There must be an actual time when it takes place. NO ONE can grow into Salvation. They must be born again. No one can logic themselves or logic someone else into being Saved. Salvation can come only when a person is convicted by the Holy Spirit and actually realizes they are way short of what God expects of them and they then come to Jesus the Christ to Save them. More later as I recall…….
